Empire Handgunners
I've always been a fan of small shooting units that can knock off some rank bonuses or deal with pesky small units/ characters who decide to go it alone. As an empire detachment they go a little bit further. So heres an update on some previous chaps. Theyre not my prettest paintjob but otherwise I'll never have an empire army i can field in a million years. they've also got some shine from using old brown ink so i'll have to matt varnish them sometime.
I've always liked the idea of the empire as a place where you would find various races and so to spice up my army units will have an odd dwarf, elf or bretonian around. In general I'll probably keep these to army colours but it should hopefully help me from being bored of painting just thin beardy chaps in puffy clothes and platemail. Being a bit stumpy I popped him on a bucket, that way he can see over any walls they try to defend.

Empire Duelist
Here at long last is some modeling content! With the release of the new warhammer I like many other people out there have been cleaning the dust of some old models, buying a few more and trying to bring my tactics up to speed with 60+ strong units marching around and my old favorite 7-8 man cavalry units being a bit on the weak side. Heres the first of a few pics of my purple and yellow empire chaps (thats right, theyre not red, not even a little!).

Praetorian Storm Trooper Squad
Heres a few pics of my first painted squad of the praetorian storm troopers i made up awhile ago now. They gave me an opportinity to try to tie different parts of my army together by using the cammo scheme on my cadians on their cloaks but sticking to the main praetorian colour palette. I have some tallern's i mean to one day paint up in the same camo, but er.. don't go holding your breath for these!
Also I wanted to appologise for the length between posts, I got a new job a few months back now and its been inhibiting my ability to post as often as I'd like. With the release of the new fantasy rulebook i wondered if anyone would be interested in shots of my empire or tomb kings armies, at the very least perhaps they could provide some filler? In the meantime I'm afraid posts are going to continue to be slower, I enjoy painting/posting/etc. too much to stop, but I won't be able to continue my older rate. Thanks for all of those still following!

Jack Frost
It feels like summers already coming to a close way too soon and I had my first dose of spray varnish frosting, it just had to be on my space hulk converted priest didn't it... ah irony is fun. Still to my joy i found repeated washing, light scrubbing with an old soft toothbrush followed by coats of matt varnish helped clean off the frosting on the upper part of the model. The bottom half frosted I almost like as a dust effect... now to work out how to replicate this for the rest of the army... Now on the painting table, some more praetorian's. Sorry I've taken so freeking long to post! Anyway enough droning, here's some shots of my completed Preist in Terminator armour:

Blood Angels Land Raider
Some shots of my Land Raider, the blod angels resin iconwas calling to me to be painted and then i just went on and did the whole model... since taking these photos i noticed that the dust weathering didn't continue into the forward black sections and have remedied this. I got it off ebay and the multi melta was missing so ill have to add that later when i find one! Any Thoughts or suggestions welcome!

Blood Angels 500pts Combat Patrol
Blood Angels shading washes
Said i say something more on this awhile ago. Sadly my camera is bit awful and so Its a bit limited, hopefully you can make out something in the Gloom!
Essentially Ive found the best two shades are Thraka Green and Leviathan Purple
Seth's wearing the Green and the Tactical Marine the Purple. The Green makes a great base for a dark red, such as the Flesh Tearers Colour scheme. The Purple a base for a lighter red. Its what I use for most of my blood angels. Baal Red is a great colour to blend tones if youve gone a bit overboard with layering. Gryphonne Sepia is great for adding shades later in spots that were missed or got accidentally painted over. All in all buy the whole new wash set theyre great and all have a use! Hope this helps, what washes do you use for your chaps?

Blood Angels Tactical Squad
Here are the last six marines to fill out my first tactical squad. They're made up of some old metal bodies i was given by a friend, and new blood angel parts (except for the melta gunner who is new plastic. These will land by drop pod, or rhino it across the field next to a razorback assault squad so that together they can both shoot things and win combats. This way theyl also both profit from the priests furious charge/ feel no pain that way as a rhino wont fit the priest and the 10 man tact squad (The full 10 are needed if you want the melta and multi melta for ay non-marine players). I'm Still planning on going back to these and finishing off a couple of blood droplet gems that are currently just red but im hurrying to get a 500pt force painted up to use in games. Similarly I wanted to appologise to those who follow to see praetorians, theyl have some more updates soon i promise!

Blood Angels Rhino and Airbrushing
Heres my first completed blood angels tank, as youl see at the bottom ive got a few more of these suckers to go. I decided to wack out the arirbush and give them a go on a nice day. I used exactly the same colour stages as for my infantry and then finish them with solar mach hardlining, weathering chips and dirt. I cant recomend getting one enough (although not the GW one, its trash)if your going to be doing alot of vehicles at once. I might try basing some infantry this way too at somepoint.

Blood Angel Tactical marine Testers
So I Knocked out a few blood angels marines, the other six to complete the tactical squad are on the way too. To stop everything i paint looking like its fresh out of a cartoon i tried a touch of weathering scratches using Charandon Granite, then boltgun metal/ mithril silver and finally odd touches of gryphonne sepia. Any other weathering ideas / tips would be most welcome!

Blood Angels RAS & Priest
Heres my first full blood angels squad, they will be fielded in a razorback when i get round to painting one up for them, probably equipped with Twinlinked Ass-cannons or Lasscannon's as my understanding of fast is they can move 12 and still use them, but couldnt use both the lascannon and twin plas so i might as well get re-rolls. Cheers for those who posted on colour choice, I went with your suggestions of the orange and cartoony look and im very pleased with it. RAS - Regular Assault Squad, in oppose to one with jump packs.

Flesh Tearers Tactical Squad
Completed apart from perhaps the sarg's cloak, im not sold on the green, im thinking perhaps yellow like the top knot guy, purple or a muted brown, what do you think?
I decided to have a play with different designs for shoulder pads i could then use some of on my blood angels, they also broke up the plain black shoulder pads that even with highlights looked pretty dull. Any thoughts suggestions welcome!
Oh and welcome to the latest few followers, many thanks for joining and taking the time to keep up with my modelling!
